Carloway First Responders - along with the ambulance crew at Barvas and ambulance service team leader, Roddy Macdonald - won the Team of the Year award in recognition of their dedication and commitment in serving the local community.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Carloway First Responders won the Team of the Year award in recognition of their dedication and commitment in serving the local community.

The team works closely with service staff in Stornoway and Barvas.

“As First Responders, the team provides an invaluable community service, responding quickly to 999 calls to provide early care while the ambulance is on its way.”

The Carloway team train regularly with the Barvas crew as well as people in the community who support them by acting as casualties and recently by bag packing to raise funds to pay for the mobile phones.
