Lewis author publishes first novel 4/2/14
A Lewis author has published his first novel based on a world of espionage in the
days of the British Raj in India.
Author of some 28 books, UHI professer Frank Rennie has digitally published “Kim
and the Thunder Dragon,” his first work of fiction.
Dr Rennie said: “I was fascinated by the story of Rudyard Kipling’s “Kim” when I
was younger. It's one of the very few books that I have read more than once.”
The book follows the story of the teenage Kim as he resumes his undercover espionage,
crossing India and entering the forbidden Kingdom of Bhutan as he attempts to prevent
a Russian invasion of the Indian Empire.
Rennie added: “This is not an attempt to imitate Kipling’s style, but rather to have
some fun imagining what might have happened next to the famous young spy.”
