Due to the forecast of southerly winds gusting around 50 mph for Saturday the Barra ferry will depart five hours earlier than scheduled.

The MV Isle of Lewis plans to run ahead of the bad weather by leaving Castlebay at 3am. The inward voyage departs Oban at 8.30am.

With a strong possibility of disruption or cancellation on the route on Sunday, Cal Mac has asked passengers to consider either bringing their journeys forward or delaying them until Monday.

The Sound of Harris service may also be impacted by the wild weather on Saturday and Sunday.

On the South Uist - Mallaig run, the Saturday outbound sailing from Lochboisdale will operate as normal. However, Lord of the Isles' 5.30pm service from Mallaig has been brought forward to 11am. There may be more disruption on Sunday.
