The relief ferry, MV Isle of Arran, will attempt a return sailing between Barra and Oban on Tuesday.

The vessel was stormbound in port today due to high winds.

Though wind speeds will have dramatically decreased by dawn, a high swell is forecast for the route.

Cal Mac said the ferry would try and carry out a service but “all depends on the sea conditions, and journeys may take longer than expected.”

Meanwhile, the MV Hebrides will be clearing a backlog of traffic from today’s cancellations.

Her timetable and timings will change as the vessel is in the wrong position for her usual Tuesday schedule.

The ship will depart Tarbert for Skye and then onward to Lochmaddy with other sailings on the triangle route into the night.
