Sirs,
Further to Mr Urpeth's letter of 8th January, I look forward with great interest
to Mr Gordon Nardell QC bringing a legal case on behalf of the RMT union to stop
the ferry tender.
On a "no win no fee" basis, of course. So that it doesn't result
in a huge profit for the legal profession and a massive bill for the taxpayer because,
as the Labour government recognised in 2005, the case is hopeless.
Mr Nardell's case
would be somewhat undermined by the statement by RMT General Secretary Mick Cash
who has said that, in its negotiations with the Scottish Government, the union "got
all it wanted."
The contract winner must continue the CalMac pension scheme, there is a guarantee
of long term job security, and there will be no changes to terms and conditions of
employment.
It would seem that the RMT no longer has a problem with the tender process.
So what is Mr Urpeth's complaint?
