A short film recorded mainly onboard a Cal Mac ferry is to air online this month.

Hopeful and uplifting, Carry Me Home - A Ferry Tale ebbs and flows through a journey of loss, understanding and acceptance.

Taking inspiration from the timeless world of ferries, the film follows a young woman’s a return journey home to the islands.

Having found what she was looking for, Mairi (Melissa Jane Deans from Gaelic comedy show FUNC) takes the last ferry home and a community folds its arms around her.

Filming took place on a Cal Mac ferry off the west coast while the soundtrack features the stirring, authentic music of Lewis folk singer Josie Duncan.

The film will be shown from 20 October on the National Theatre of Scotland website.
