Talks over a ferry strike on Cal Mac ferries are to resume on Tuesday.

Negotiations broke up on Monday without agreement.

Both the seafarers' union, RMT, and TSSA which represents ticket office staff, want to protect staff's present conditions and pensions rights in the forthcoming ferry route contract.

Cal Mac is also in discussion with Nautilus (officers union) and the Unite union.

However, the RMT is taking a series of industrial action while TSSA members after being balloted about going on strike.

One main issue is Cal Mac's drive to change staff's pension scheme.

However, a planned ferry strike on Friday will hit the Western Isles badly. The knock-on effect on Saturday will also case issues for travellers.

Advance bookings are being suspended and will not get back to normal until Monday.
