The MV Loch Seaforth is undergoing very minor repairs to her rubbing strake today.

The strake - which acts as a hull bumper - worked as it should have - when the vessel was berthed at Hatston Quay in Kirkwall during a recent gale.

The thick rubber straking - which runs the length of the ship’s side - took a slight bash and protected the hull from damage during movement against the Orkney quayside.

Incorrect social media suggestions that the damage was more serious is the latest rumour about the new Stornoway ferry.

Lately, it was claimed that the ship was dry and no alcohol would be served onboard.

On the contrary, a wide range of beers, wines and spirits will be available to passengers as well as soft drinks, teas and coffees.

The MV Loch Seaforth is expected to arrive permanently in Stornoway harbour from next week.
