Ferry stormbound in port      25/9/14

The MV Lord of the Isles is stormbound in Lochboisdale tonight (Thurs).

Rough seas and high gale force winds means she cannot get to Castlebay.

She arrived in South Uist from Oban later than usual after a technical delay.

Passengers heading for Barra are stranded. With 44mph south westerly gusts, tonight’s sailing to Castlebay is cancelled.

The ferry intends to depart Lochboisdale at 7am tomorrow (Fri) morning, to call in at Castlebay on her way to the mainland.

Overnight, the gale is forecasted to range between Force 6 to 8 - increasing to severe gale 9 for a period - with squally showers.

Friday will see Force 6 - 7 winds which will be stronger in gusts.
