Ferry stormbound in harbour, sailings delayed      17/8/14     

Ferry sailings for South Uist and Barra are on hold on Sunday due to 45 knots  northwesterly winds.

The MV Clansman and did not venture out for her morning departure to the mainland. The vessel is stormbound in Castlebay waiting for conditions to improve.

The knock-on effect means the afternoon sailing out of Oban for Castlebay and Lochboisdale will also be delayed.  

The Sound of Harris ferry is also liable to disruption or cancellation due to adverse weather at short notice on Sunday.

Numerous other Cal Mac sailings have ben cancelled or badly disrupted on the west coast as an Atlantic gale affects the area.
