The head of Transport Scotland should be sacked over a serious of concerns with Western Isles ferry provision, according to a Lewis councillor.
The imposition of a single ferry for the Stornoway run which offers only a minimal
cut in voyage time -
Frustration over a delay in getting a meeting with the former transport minister exercised councillors at the Comhairle’s transport committee this week.
They vented anger of a lack of consultation over plans for Ullapool linkspan to be out of commission for six week over Easter.
The first the council heard about the linkspan disruption was through Hebrides News.
The unilateral imposition of a restricted schedule for reduced sailings at irregular times using Skye as a temporary mainland destination port attracted a round of condemnation from councillors.

Cllr Alasdair Macleod demanded the senior civil servant in charge of Transport Scotland depart his post.
He stated: “ I would call for the head of Transport Scotland to resign over the issue.”
Mr Macleod accused the government agency of “gross incompetence all down the line.”
