All ferry services face serious disruptions due to gale force winds today.

Gusts of 76 mph have been recorded in South Uist.

There will be no ferry in either direction between Oban, Barra and South Uist.

The MV Finlaggan is stormbound until conditions ease and the wind direction changes. She hopes to depart at 5pm on an amended timetable for North Uist and Harris.

The Loch Seaforth has made it to Ullapool but will not return until the evening.

The inter-island ferries have suspended services with a possibility of a sailing later when winds die down.
