The Sound of Barra ferry service has been suspended due to bad weather.

Rough seas and strong winds has resulted in the cancellation of the later morning run from Barra and the lunchtime departure Eriskay.

Neither will be mid-afternoon service operate.

Cal Mac said the skipper will monitor conditions to see if a late afternoon sailing can go-ahead.

Meanwhile, the MV Lord of the Isles brought her Mallaig to South Uist sailing forward by five and a half hours to avoid the adverse weather.
