Disrupted ferry services       16/9/14

Barra and South Uist CalMac ferry services will be disrupted this week as the MV Clansman undergoes essential repairs.

Timetable changes are also being made to accommodate a livestock sale in Lochboaisdale.

The MV Clansman will be taken out of service from tomorrow, Wednesday, to fix her ramp.

The smaller and slower MV Lord of the Isles will replace her on the Oban-Castlebay and Oban-Lochboisdale runs meaning changes to departure and arrival times.

The new timetable is: Wednesday – Oban/Castlebay – Depart Oban 2.30pm (50 mins late); Arrive Castlebay 7.40pm (1hr and 10mins late); Depart Castlebay 8pm (1hr and 10mins late); Arrive Oban 01.10am Thursday morning (1hr and 30mins late). Vehicles should check in at Oban by 1.45pm and by 7.30pm at Castlebay.

The Castlebay - Lochboisdale timetable will also be changed on Friday due to a livestock sale in South Uist.

The Friday timetable is:  Depart Oban 1.40am; Arrive Castlebay 6.30pm with a 20 minute turnaround. The ship is due to arrive Lochboisdale at 8.20pm and head back out ten minutes later. Arrival at Oban is around 1.30am on Saturday morning.
