Hebrides News

Due to high winds, MV Hebrides had to return to Skye for a safe berth last night so is unable to carry out this morning’s run from Uist to the mainland.

The vessel was unable to stay at Lochmaddy pier given a force eight gale forecast overnight.

Bad weather last night delayed her by an hour and she headed back across the Little Minch after passengers disembarked in North Uist.  Disrupted traffic available to bring their journey forward were able to sail onboard.

The Hebrides will resume normal timetable with the 9.40am departure.

Adverse weather also impacted the MV Hebridean Isles freight sailings on the Stornoway - Ullapool route with yesterday afternoon and this morning runs were cancelled.

She had been expected to resume service at 5pm tonight, sea conditions permitting.
