A replacement ship will take over the Oban- Castlebay service tomorrow as the MV Isle of Arran requires urgent repairs.

It is understood the Clansman will take over the run on Tuesday afternoon. She will depart Oban over an hour later than normal. However, as she is a faster vessel, arrival at Barra will be only 30 minutes behind schedule.

The alternative ferry will depart at the usual time on Wednesday, arriving 40 minutes early at the mainland port.

The Arran is expected to pick up the run out of Oban on Wednesday afternoon.

At present the regular ferry, MV Isle of Lewis, is due back on Friday.
