A rope tangled in her propeller put the South Uist ferry out of action yesterday.

The  MV Isle of Arran  cancelled her Oban to Lochboisdale run as a result.

Divers cleared the obstruction but sea trials were being undertaken this morning to check if the issue affected the vessel’s propulsion.

All went well and the ship sailed at 10.30am.

Oban continues to the destination port for the South Uist service as the MV Lord of the Isles (Loti) is taking longer than scheduled expected during her annual refit.

Normal service was due to return on Monday after a temporary timetable was deployed nearly three weeks ago,

No sailings will be made to the usual port of Mallaig as a result.

Instead, the service will operate to Oban until the Loti returns.
