Highlands and Islands Conservative MSP Donald Cameron has joined calls for Cal Mac to address the issue of the capacity of its Loch Seaforth vessel, following complaints from constituents that some sailings are full to capacity.

This follows recent reports that in some cases, foot passengers have been turned away and many people have been unable to book vehicle tickets online.

Mr Cameron said: “I am deeply concerned by the reports that I have been hearing from constituents that they are unable to book tickets for this lifeline service because of issues surrounding the capacity of the vessel.

“I have written to Martin Dorchester, the chief executive of Caledonian MacBrayne, copied to Humza Yousaf MSP, Minister for Transport and the Islands, to ascertain what the position is, so that we ensure people in both the Western Isles and the mainland can plan their travel without fear of being turned away.”
