Ferry passengers have to get on and off the MV Loch Seaforth via the car deck ramp at Stornoway after the brand new passenger access system broke down.
A joint statement from Stornoway Port Authority and CalMac said: “The passenger access system on pier three developed a fault on Thursday night which has necessitated it being withdrawn from service while the cause is investigated.
"In the meantime customers are being advised as they arrive to travel that they must board via the car deck.
"Additional CalMac port staff are providing whatever assistance is necessary."
