The damaged Sound of Harris ferry has returned to Berneray after drydock repairs.

The MV Loch Portain hit the seabed during a voyage about three weeks ago.

The vessel was despatched for an out-of-water inspection at Birkenhead, near Liverpool.

Repairs have been completed ahead of schedule.

Sailing times on the route between Berneray and Leverburgh were altered as her smaller and slower replacement, MV Loch Bhrusda, cannot carry as many vehicles.

MV Loch Portain will return to service on Sunday but will operate an amended timetable until 25 October.
