Due to heavy fog, ferry traffic from South Uist was discharged at Skye today as the vessel was unable to berth at Mallaig, said Cal Mac.

The MV Lord of the Isles stood off the port for a period due to heavy fog on Tuesday morning. She later diverted to Armadale to unload passengers and vehicles.

Visibility later improved and the ship sailed between Skye and Mallaig.

Meanwhile, the mid-morning sailing across the Sound of Harris was cancelled as the MV Loch Portain was delayed by fog on the route.

The next scheduled sailings are the 5.20pm from Berneray and 6.20pm from Leverburgh. Space is limited and intending travellers have been strongly advised to re-book.
