A number of Western Isles ferry services are disrupted today due to rough seas and strong winds.

Further delays may be expected on Wednesday if conditions continue as forecast.

The last ferry of the day between Barra and Eriskay is on amber alert and may be cancelled at short notice.

Weather permitting, there should be an additional sailing from Barra - Eriskay at 7.30pm. There is no guarantee that this sailing will go ahead due to the weather forecast.

The Lord of the Isles will not sail to Lochbosidale tonight as planned. Instead she will berth in Castlebay. Weather permitting, there should be an additional sailing from Barra - Eriskay at 7.30pm.  

On Wednesday, she is due to depart Barra at 9.25am on Wednesday for Oban.  Passengers from Lochboisdale are advised to take the first sailing over the Sound of Barra to make the connection.

The afternoon Stornoway to Skye and return sailings are cancelled. The Ullapool passenger only service is operating as timetabled.

The MV Clipper Ranger freight ferry is on amber alert.
