Many island ferry services face upheaval over the next two days due to severe weather and wild seas.

All sailings between South Uist and Mallaig are cancelled on both Sunday and Monday. Tuesday's sailings may also be affected.

On Sunday and Monday the Loch Alainn’s timetable between Barra and Eriskay is liable to disruption or cancellation.

The Sound of Harris route is also on yellow alert for Sunday.

The MV Isle of Lewis will depart Castlebay earlier than usual on Sunday in an attempt to return before conditions worsen too much.

The ferry is on yellow alert on Monday and may be cancelled at short notice.

The Skye to Lochmaddy and Tarbert sailings are likely to be disrupted or cancelled on Sunday.
