Western Isles ferry services face disruption or cancellation on Friday due to high winds.

Adverse weather risks hampering tonight’s (Thurs) freight run on the Stornoway-Ullapool route while passenger sailings face disruption tomorrow.

The MV Lord of the Isles will not operate. The next sailing from Lochboisdale is scheduled for Saturday.

Weather permitting, the MV Hebrides plans to run to Skye in the morning but will then suspend sailings until the afternoon when an amended timetable will operate.

The first return sailings on the Sound of Barra route are cancelled as was today’s (Thurs) timetable. There is a heightened possibility of disruption to all other sailings.

There will be no sailing out of Castlebay. Though the ferry is out of position due to severe weather today, its unlikely she would go to sea given the expected wind speeds and high swell on Friday morning. At this stage, there is the possibility of an inbound sailing from Oban later in the day, weather permitting.
