Cal Mac has announced ferry disruptions are likely following a severe gale forecast.

Given the present predictions over the path and intensity of the bad weather, many sea routes will be affected on Wednesday morning.

The Stornoway - Ullapool ferry service is liable to disruption.

Cal Mac said the Wednesday morning sailing out of Stornoway and the 10.30am from Ullapool may also be affected.

The weather is also likely have an impact on tonight’s freight run between the two ports.

Cal Mac is considering operating an amended timetable for the Lochboisdale - Mallaig route.

Other changes to ferry timetables may be advised later when updated forecasts are assessed.
