Sailings of the Stornoway - Ullapool ferry service are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice from tonight until Saturday.

A gale forecast is set to bring high winds and rough seas on Friday. A heavy swell is also possible on the route.

The MV Loch Seaforth’s overnight freight run may be affected with strong winds forecast to blow straight up the Minch.

Tomorrow’s timetable is on yellow alert. At present it seems the morning sailings have a better chance of running.

Conditions may touch force nine later on Friday.

Both inter-island ferries could be affected this afternoon.

The Castlebay and Lochboisdale ferries are cancelled today. With a higher swell accompanying a forecast of gale force winds, both services may also face disruption tomorrow.
