A number of Western Isles ferries are disrupted due to high winds today.

Afternoon sailings on both inter-island routes are cancelled.

The MV Isle of Lewis departed Castlebay at 4am, four hours earlier than usual. She is due to return after 3pm.

Similarly, the Lord of the Isles sailed from Lochboisdale at 4.15am. She left Mallaig at 8am for the return leg.

There is a heightened possibility of disruption to sailings for Lochmaddy and Tarbert.

Further disruptions to ferries are possible on Saturday.
