Continuing bad weather is disrupting ferry services and creating a backlog of traffic throughout the Western Isles.

The problem is exacerbated with the MV Hebrides out of action on the Uig triangle after a crash in Lochmaddy.

Rejigging the fleet  to cover North Uist and Harris means cancelled and disrupted sailings for Barra and South Uist.

 

Castlebay

Wednesday: Sailings cancelled

 

 

Bad weather disrupts ferry services

Thursday:  Oban sailings cancelled. Ferry will run to Uig, Skye, to clear Uist backlog. Depart Castlebay 1pm, depart Skye 10pm, arrive Castlebay 2am Friday.

 

Stornoway

Risk of disruption on freight run Wednesday night and passenger service on Thursday morning

 

Lochmaddy

Wednesday: Sailings cancelled due to damaged ferry.

Thursday: Sailing from Oban in morning. Contingency timetables via Skye in the evening including two outbound sailings.

Harris

Wednesday: Sailings cancelled due to damaged ferry.

Thursday: Temporary timetable - depart Uig at 8.45pm. No outbound sailing.

 

Sound of Barra

Wednesday: Sailings suspended in afternoon.

Thursday: Risk of disruption.

 

Sound of Harris

Thursday:  Morning sailings may be disrupted or cancelled.

 

South Uist

Thursday:  Ferry departs Lochboisdale for Oban at later time of 10am. Mallaig to Lochboisdale cancelled as vessel deployed elsewhere.

Friday: Sailings cancelled for a week or more as vessel deployed to Coll and Tiree.
