Conditions are set to deteriorate as the day progresses with strong winds and rough seas forecast for the afternoon onwards.
A smaller vessel, MV Isle of Arran, is operating on the route while the MV Isle of Lewis is away for her annual refit.
The Arran hopes to complete the return leg of the sailing before the weather increases to gale level.
She plans to leave Castlebay at 7am with a 1pm departure from Oban.
