A forecast of strong westerly winds is putting some South Uist and Barra ferry sailings in doubt on Wednesday.

Conditions set to touch gale force eight in the morning could result in ferry disruptions.

The MV Lord of The Isles will delay her departure from Lochboisdale until wind speeds are expected to decrease.

She will leave Lochboisdale at 10.30am and depart Mallaig at 2.30pm.

The Sound of Barra route is also liable to cancellation or delays at short notice.
