Rough seas are being experienced on the Sound of Barra. The ferry service is operating on a sailing by sailing basis and is liable to cancellation at short notice.

The MV Loch Seaforth was stuck in Ullapool this morning with a force eight gale blowing on that side of the Minch. She did not return to Stornoway last night.

Her skipper intended to sail when the wind started to drop at noon but delays in getting the large backlog of vehicles onboard held back the departure to about 12.30pm.

The lunchtime departure from Stornoway is now delayed to approximately 4pm.

The 5.30pm sailing out of Ullapool has been cancelled.

The Seaforth’s freight run tonight is disrupted. The ferry will not head back to the island until the 3am Saturday morning freight departure, weather permitting.

The Sound of Harris ferry is suffering technical issues. Her morning sailing was cancelled. A review will be made later today regarding her next sailing.

The Lochboisdale - Castlebay- Oban service is cancelled. The MV Hebridean Isles is liable weather disruptions on Saturday. The 4pm forecast will be assessed before deciding if a Saturday sailings can proceed.
