A Lewis couple are anxiously waiting to see if this week's ferry industrial action will spoil their wedding plans.
Around thirty guests – over a quarter of the guest list -
Aunties, uncles and cousins are de to travel from the mainland to celebrate the special family occasion.
Relying on the ferry is is the chauffeur for the bridesmaids.
In addition, Mr Crossley's aunt has travelled from Texas, USA, and is concerned she
now risks being stranded on the pier at Ullapool -
Becca said she is very anxious and upset at the industrial action.
She is awake into the early hours of the morning rearranging arrangements.
As a contingency, she has been forced to revise seating plans -
Becca said: “I’ve been planning this wedding for the last year. Now at the last moment, Cal Mac crews have decided to go on strike. That means about 30 members of my family from the mainland would not be able to come if the ferries don’t sail.
“Last night I was up to 3am trying to sort out my table plan. I ended up having to
do two plans -
They couple are having their wedding service in Martin’s Memorial church in Stornoway in Lewis, followed with a reception in Breasclete community centre.
About nine months ago “we told family the date of the wedding and they started booking B&Bs and getting time off from work,” said Becca.
“We’re a very close family and for them not to get to the wedding is really upsetting.
“Especially the week of the wedding we’re told there’s a possibility the ferry might not sail.”
James said, because of the industrial action, “two of my aunties might not now be able to make it. It just won’t be the same without them.”
