The South Uist ferry has diverted to Oban due to high winds and rough seas. The strong southerly airflow would make berthing hazardous at Mallaig today so her skipper headed south on a longer route.

The vessel hopes to make a fast turn-around and depart Oban around 2.30pm for the voyage to Lochboisdale.

On Monday, the Castlebay ferry, MV Isle of Lewis, may be disrupted due to a forecast of 40 knot winds.
