Ferry held back following road crash           20/4/14

The MV Hebrides has been delayed at Skye today because a road tanker delivering fuel to the ship was delayed after a crash on the main road.

A 33-year-old man died from his injuries when his motorbike lost control on the main A87 road through Skye. No other vehicles were involved said police.

Roadblocks were set up around the scene at Drumnacloch near Luib, from around 9.40am this morning.

There were no diversions available for large vehicles, so the oil tanker was stuck until the route was reopened.

Cal Mac said the vessel will now be able to refuel.

The ship will be one hour late in sailing to Lochmaddy and Tarbert.
