The MV Loch Seaforth is due to arrive in Stornoway after half past midnight on Tuesday morning following weather delays.

She departed Ullapool about 10pm on Monday -  about an hour after finally docking at the Wester Ross port.

Earlier, wild gusts had made berthing unsafe.

The vessel took a number of sweeps around Loch Broom while waiting for a safe opportunity to get alongside the pier.

Wind speeds over 60mph - higher than forecast - battered the area.

Her afternoon sailing from Lewis took nearly three times longer than usual - seven hours instead of the normal two and a half hour trip.

Onboard were a group of English tourists making their way south after a coach tour.

A number of local teenagers heading for a Zara Larsson concert were also late in arriving on the mainland. They opted to travel today following alerts of disrupted sailings for Tuesday.

Due to high winds forecast, there is a possibility of disruption to Tuesday’s sailings on the Ullapool route.
