Ferry services face disruption for the next two days due to a forecast of high winds and rough seas.

Swell and 40 knot southerly winds mean Barra - Oban sailings are cancelled on Thursday.

In an effort to run ahead of a further band of bad weather, the MV Isle of Lewis may depart Castlebay some hours earlier than scheduled on Friday.

The MV Lord of the Isles will not sail to Mallaig on Thursday morning. Weather permitting, the ferry aims to depart Lochboisdale at 7am but plans to steam to Oban.

There is also a heightened possibility of disruption to the mid-morning sailing from Ullapool and the 2pm service from Stornoway.
