A relief sailing between Barra and Uist has been cancelled due to strong winds and rough seas.

The Sound of Barra service is cancelled due to “technical issues” so the MV Hebridean Isles was due to carry out an alternative run between Castlebay and Lochboisdale.

The Heb Isles undertook a morning sailing but bad weather has ruled out an afternoon link.

With the Eriskay service still out of action, she will remain in Lochboisdale. The next sailing is from Lochboisdale to Castlebay at 6.30am tomorrow (Wed).

The vessel will continue to Oban and will call in at Barra on her return to South Uist.

The Lochboisdale - Mallaig service is cancelled on Wednesday.
