Ferry cancellations

13 January 2018

Bad weather rising up to storm force is causing ferry disruptions over the weekend.

The MV will be stuck in port on Sunday with cancellations across the Lochmaddy and Tarbert service.

Last night’s and this morning’s sailings for Tarbert were cancelled. The early Lochmaddy run was also put off.

The MV Isle of Lewis is making a special overnight sailing on Saturday after other runs were cancelled by rough seas. She departs Barra at 11pm tonight and aims to leave Oban at 4.30am in the morning.

The ferry could not sail yesterday due to bad weather and conditions had not improved for an additional run planned for this morning.

The ship will now take advantage of a slight lull between two weather fronts, aiming to be berthed back in Castlebay before storm force winds hit.

All sailings on the Sound of Barra route are cancelled today. Sunday is looking doubtful though there is a chance of a run in the early morning. The ferry plans to sail early at 7.15am - before conditions worsen again. The planned departure from Eriskay is at 8.10am.

The MV Lord of the Isles intends a delayed sailing from Lochboisdale this afternoon and will head back from Oban at 11.30pm. All sailings on the route are cancelled for Sunday.

The Stornoway ferry service is on yellow alert on Sunday. Her freight run is also liable to cancellation.
