Hebrides News

The ferry service between Stornoway and Skye has been cancelled for Sunday afternoon and evening.

In addition, the late morning departure of the MV Isle of Lewis out of Skye is on amber alert and, depending on conditions at the time, may not sail.

High southwesterly seas, a big swell, 40-50 mph winds are forecast to coincide with a low tide.

The Stornoway - Skye route is a temporary diversion as the normal Ullapool destination is out of use for vehicle traffic due to linkspan improvements.

An alternative option for travellers is the MV Hebrides which is due to operate her timetabled 2pm sailing from Skye to Harris.

The Loch Seaforth is to run her normal foot passenger-only service to and from Ullapool.

Because of the diversion operation, the MV Hebrides’ scheduled 8pm Lochmaddy to Uig run on Sunday is cancelled.

So to is her 5.30am morning run to Tarbert for Monday 11th.
