Plans are in place to ensure continuity of ferry services during the essential replacement of the linkspan at Ullapool.

CalMac’s vehicle and freight services will operate between Stornoway and Uig between 20 April and 17 May.

The MV Loch Seaforth will continue to provide a twice daily service between Stornoway and Ullapool, carrying foot passengers only.

The vast majority of Stornoway-Ullapool ferry users are expected to be using the bus.

In order to accurately gauge the number of buses required it is essential for those requiring the bus service to book in advance, whether they are travelling from Ullapool to Inverness or Inverness to Ullapool.

Passengers intending to travel without vehicles on the Stornoway to Uig route in this period should also pre-arrange onward travel arrangements as the bus timetables may not match the ferry timetables.

The linkspan replacement is the final stage of the Stornoway-Ullapool ferry project which has been overseen in its latter stages by a taskforce convened by Transport Minister Derek Mackay and brings together CalMac, Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd, Stornoway Port Authority, Ullapool Harbour Trust, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Transport Scotland.
