Stornoway - Uig ferry diversion times

The MV Isle of the Lewis ferry has broken down after doing only two days on her Stornoway to Skye diversion timetable.

The problem is understood to be a fault with a generator.

Initially, the issue was hoped to be fixed in time to make a delayed departure this morning.

However, repairs are taking longer than initially anticipated.

The ferry is stuck in Stornoway. The first return run to Skye is cancelled.

It is hoped to have the generator back in operation in time to make the scheduled 5pm departure out of Stornoway. If so, her return arrival time is midnight.

The MV Isle of Lewis is operating a temporary service from Stornoway to Uig, Skye, until will be in place to 17 May.

Departure and arrival times change almost every day.

There only be one sailing on some days.

Passengers intending to travel without vehicles on the Stornoway to Uig route in this period should pre-arrange onward travel arrangements as the bus timetables may not match the ferry timings.

The MV Loch Seaforth will undertake daily return sailings from Stornoway to Ullapool for foot passengers only.

It is essential for those requiring the bus service to book in advance, whether they are travelling from Ullapool to Inverness or Inverness to Ullapool.
