Hebrides News

Ferry sailings on the Skye triangle route are cancelled due to strong southerly winds and rough seas.

The MV Hebrides is suspending services for Harris and North Uist until tomorrow when an amended timetable will operate. The vessel will remain in Tarbert tonight.

The Lochbisdale - Oban run was cancelled today.

The inter-island Sound of Barra crossing faces potential disruption later as does tonight’s Stornoway freight service.

The Barra ferry ran ahead of an incoming gale before wave heights exceeded “operational limits.”

The MV Isle of Lewis departed Castlebay at 2.30am with the aim of arriving back at lunchtime before the worsening weather prevents her from berthing.

On the current forecast the Stornoway passenger service is set to run both crossings though the evening sailing from Ullapool may be bumpy.

The Stornoway ferry is liable to disruption on Tuesday.

The gale and rough seas are forecast to continue tomorrow.
