Hebrides News

Most Western Isles ferry services are resuming after services were cancelled due to a severe gale.

Wind speeds on Thursday afternoon reduced to Force 6 conditions.

However, the MV Loch Portain's sailings on the Sound of Harris are cancelled for the rest of the day.

On the Sound of Barra, Loch Bhrusda will take up her service at 3.45pm from Ardmhor.

A high swell is still affecting the seas around Barra. The MV Clansman has delayed her Castlebay departure until 4.30pm. Heavy seas means she is unable to call in at Coll or Tiree so the ship will sail directly to Oban.

The Hebrides is running an amended timetable to clear a backlog of traffic. From Tarbert, the vessel will head for Lochmaddy and then Skye. She will depart Uig at 8pm for Harris.

After cancelling two sailings to Ullapool, the Stornoway ferry, MV Loch Seaforth, picked up her timetable at lunchtime. She will also undertake a freight run tonight.
