Ferry services on amber alert 24/10/14
All mainland ferry services to the Western Isles risk being cancelled or disrupted due to a forecast severe gale on Saturday.
Shipping operator Caledonian Macbrayne has put all its mainland to Outer Hebrides routes on amber alert.
Very rough seas and a high swell are expected to accompany strong south westerly winds.
Violent gusts of nearly 70 mph are likely to affect Uist and Barra.
The bad weather will continue into Sunday morning with the North Uist and Harris timetable of the MV Hebrides liable to delay.
