Western Isles ferry services were cancelled this morning.

Most ship plan to undertake sailings when gale force winds are forecast to ease in the afternoon.

The MV Loch Seaforth is stuck in Ullapool due to bad weather. The vessel made a run from Stornoway but the return voyage is delayed. Cal Mac said her skipper will review conditions with an aim to depart around noon.

Ferries were cancelled on the Tarbert and Lochmaddy routes this morning. The relief ships are waiting for the weather to improve before resuming sailings.

Both inter-island ferries have cancelled runs. High winds threaten the rest of the day’s schedules.

The MV Lord of the Isles delayed her departure from Lochboisdale by two hours. The ship diverted via the shelter of the Small Isles. Her sailing from Oban has been brought forward by three hours and the ferry may take the longer route to South Uist.

The MV Isle of Lewis sailed from Castlebay but may be hampered by bad weather.
