The Faroese Government has expressed a desire to take part in an islands summit, to be held in Stornoway with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Orkney Islands Council and Shetlands Islands Council.

Faroese representatives told Western isles MP Angus MacNeil they would like to join in.

Angus MacNeil said: “The Scottish Islands have much in common with the Faroe Islands such as fishing and tourism."

The MP has written to the council to ask if they would be willing to accommodate the request "from our Faroese neighbours.”
