Every community voted SNP

The Scottish National Party would like to thank the 8,662 voters in the Western Isles who gave Angus Brendan MacNeil a stunning victory in the recent General Election.

He recorded the highest SNP vote since 1974 and won a majority of 4,102, an increase of 117% over that of 2010.

The SNP won the vote at every single polling station from Lionel to Garrabost to Castlebay.

It is particularly pleased to have scored huge majorities at polling stations in Benbecula and South Uist, and attributes this to Mr MacNeil's success in saving the rocket range after Labour tried to close it.

Although he has had the best attendance record at Parliament of any Scottish MP, he has also been a first-class constituency MP.

He and his hard-working staff have helped thousands of islanders over the past 10 years. Time and again, those of us who canvassed for him were given heartwarming stories on the doorstep of how he had helped people with their problems.

Angus and the SNP look forward to another five years of working for the people of the Western Isles.
