1.22am: Returning officers calls over campaigners to give them provisional result. official announcement in a few minutes

1.20am:  Looks like remain vote from Western Isles

1.10am: Provisional Western Isles result expected in 15 minutes

1.09am: Western Isles turnout is 70.2% with 14,919 votes verified

0.26am: Helicopter has landed in Stornoway. Boxes from Uist, Benbecula and Barra are arriving at the count centre

23.50: Ballot boxes from Harris arrive at Stornoway count centre

23.38: Chartered chopper has taken off for Stornoway.  

23.34: More boxes from rural Lewis arrive and are going through the verification process.

23.31pm: Chopper preparing to take off from Balivanich with Benbecula and Uist ballot boxes.

23.14: Helicopter has landed at Balivanich Airport and is being loaded with boxes from Uist and Benbecula.

23.10: No ballot papers have been counted yet. Voting slips have to be verified first.

23.07pm: All Stornoway, Point, Ness, and Westside boxes have arrived. Boxes from Lochs and Uig starting to come in. Harris boxes have left Tarbert by car.

22.45pm: Verification and counting of votes is well underway.  

10.33pm: Helicopter airborne and on route to Balivanich airport to pick up the Souther Isles boxes.

10.20pm: The two ballot boxes from Barra are being transferred to a helicopter.

10.10pm: First ballot boxes have arrived at the count centre in the Lewis sports centre in Stornoway.

10pm: The polls close across the UK.
