Emergency flares sighting spark two-
An air and sea search for a boat thought to be in distress was carried around North Uist on Tuesday night.
Reports of flares being seen over the island were relayed to Stornoway Coastguard.
Stornoway Coastguard helicopter used a powerful searchlight to scan the sea and coast including around the causeways.
Leverburgh RNLI lifeboat searched the sea area while coastguard teams from Benbecula and Griminish scoured the coastline.
There was no sign of a vessel in trouble and the search was stood down after two hours.
