Eilidh Macleod from Castlebay has been confirmed as amongst the 22 people killed in the Manchester bomb attack.

Eilidh,14, and her friend Laura Macintyre travelled from Barra with Eilidh’s mother, Marion, to the pop concert.

Their last contact was when Eilidh texted her mum to come and collect them as Ariana Grande was singing her final song.

Laura was found seriously injured in hospital.

Eilidh was brought up in Vatersay. The family moved to Castlebay about two years ago.

This morning her parents issued a statement via the police.

They said: “Our family is devastated and words cannot express how we feel at losing our darling Eilidh.

“Eilidh was vivacious and full of fun. She loved all music whether it was listening to Ariana or playing the bagpipes with her pipe band.

“As a family we would like to express our thanks and gratitude for the support and kind messages we have received at this difficult time.”
